Fellow Application Overview

To apply to the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship, a completed fellow application must include all the application components below and meet the eligibility criteria.

Fellows must be willing to commit to a two-year, full-time fellowship where fellows are carefully matched to host sites based on career interests and the host site’s available opportunities.

  • Resume or CV
  • Official transcripts from all degree-granting institutions
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement
  • Proof Of U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status

Our Online Application:

When applying, we understand that completing the application may not be feasible during one sitting. With our online application, we have the following features to help you complete your application: 

  • Save - Allows candidates to save their application until ready for submission
  • Recommendation - Allows applicants to submit their requests for recommendations. Once a applicant submits a request for recommendation, the recommender will submit an electronic recommendation.
  • Check Status - Allows candidates to see when CSTE has received their official transcripts and proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.

Fellowship Classes

The CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship Class 23 Application will open October 7, 2024. 

 

Eligibility for a Class 23 fellowship beginning in 2025:  

  • Master’s and/or doctorate level degree must be completed by June 30, 2025 

The CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship Class 24 Application will open the Fall of 2025. 

Eligibility for a Class 24 fellowship beginning in 2026:  

  • Master’s and/or doctorate level degree must be completed by June 30, 2026  

Class 24 (2026-2028): Application Timeline

This application timeline is only applicable for applications in the months of October through January. 

Fellow application opens

  • October 6, 2025

Fellow application closes

  • January 16, 2026

All applications and supporting materials must be received; any information received after this date will not be considered.

Host Site Locations

  • March 2026

Host site locations for Class 24 will be available on our Host Site Locations page

Application Review

  • January – early March 2026

Complete applications are reviewed and evaluated by multiple panels of epidemiologists based on predetermined criteria. 

Matching Process

  • Late March 2026

Finalists are invited to participate in a matching process that includes interviewing with host sites.

Fellow Placement

  • June – August 2026

New Fellows will begin their placements during the summer of 2026.
