Conferences

Fellows are encouraged to attend public health conferences related to their subject area and projects as opportunities to network, learn, and develop professionally. Fellows may utilize their professional development funds to attend relevant conferences and/or other training opportunities. 

In the past, fellows have attended the following conferences based on subject area: CityMatCH Leadership and MCH Epidemiology Conference (Maternal and Child Health), WEHN – Health & Environment Series: Making the Connection (Environmental Health), IDWeek (Infectious Disease), Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit (Injury), CPDD 83rd Annual Scientific Virtual Meeting (Injury and Drug Overdose).  

“The Texas Public Health Association (TPHA) was the first conference I had the opportunity to present. I networked with many public health professionals from all over the state and expanded my knowledge on different disease conditions and health topics. CSTE MCH Fellows had the opportunity to attend the AMCHP Conference in 2024. They are with the CEO of AMCHP, Terrance E. Moore, at the Oakland Museum of California. This was such an enriching opportunity for the fellows as they build a lot of connections and got to familiarize themselves with head AMCHP staff.
